I am a political scientist working in the Government and International Affairs program at Virginia Tech's National Capital Region campus. My first book, The President’s Echo System (Harvard University Press, 2026), examines collaborative relationships between the White House and private organizations in the pursuit of national security policies. I wrote most of it in my year as a Kluge Fellow at the US Library of Congress, but document collection took years and trips to archives in Chicago, California, New York, New Jersey, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. Following the completion of my doctorate at the University of Chicago, I was the Stanley Kaplan Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Political Science and the Leadership Studies Program at Williams College. I am also a former Research Fellow in the International Security Program of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. While earning my PhD, I served as preceptor in the Committee on International Relations at the University of Chicago.
